AllSaints debuted its Spring/Summer 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week at a showroom in the Meatpacking District. The Shoreditch, England-based brand opted to present the collection in a short film instead of a traditional runway fashion show.

The Spring/Summer 2016 collection was inspired by the tensions between modernity and classicism, and the metropolitan lifestyle versus a rural lifestyle. The collection features a patchwork pattern on a full zip jacket, sleeveless shirt and a calf length skirt, lace fish net dresses, unique interpretations of plaid patterns—one shirt dress has a plaid pattern that increases in checks as it reaches the bottom and another has a floral pattern printed over the plaid—, the brand’s iconic biker jacket and faded denim styles including a wide leg pant and two skirts.

“People don’t need to be dictated to,” said AllSaints Creative Director Wil Beedle. “They simply need certain starting points from which their own identities can create something entirely new and unique – in doing so empowering the reality of the individual. This is the essence of “It’s Up To You”, the film we’ve been inspired to make during this season’s fashion week.”

The film Beedle is referring to is the short documentary that showcases the AllSaints SS16 collection. The film, Up To You, features street-cast individuals that have put their love for their city on display by expressing their own identities, lifestyles, distinct voices and personal styles all while modeling the collection. The shooting, editing and release of the film took seven days to complete.

Beedle continued, “I feel strongly that AllSaints’ collections provide the catalyst for individual creativity, no matter who you are, where you’re from, or how you see the world. Everything’s valid. What we present is a uniform without uniformity.”
