Barbour in Margaret Howell collab for AW18

Published
Nov 30, 2017

Two of the biggest names in British fashion are teaming up with heritage lifestyle brand Barbour collaborating for the first time with fashion-meets-classic designer Margaret Howell on a women’s capsule collection.

Margaret Howell's pared-back style seems a good fit for Barbour but we won't see the collab until next autumn

Designed by Howell in conjunction with Barbour’s menswear design team, the collaboration will launch for autumn/winter 2018 and will sit within Barbour’s Timeless Originals collection. The collection will feature three different styles, all inspired by the Barbour archive which dates back to 1910.

Ian Bergin, Director of Menswear at Barbour said: “Margaret Howell represents classicism, quality and understated style in all of her collections.  She designs for a modern silhouette with a simplicity in cut and shape that creates a relaxed and natural look and we are very excited to be working with her.”

Howell added: “As an admirer of The Barbour and living with one myself for many years, I was thrilled to be asked to collaborate with the company. Delving into their archive was a real joy and very stimulating. It is great to be working with one of our heritage clothing manufacturers. For me it’s very satisfying to work on purposeful clothing that is well made and made to last.”

It’s a significant pairing of two British companies that are among the best known names globally. Barbour has undertaken a number of collaborations, most recently with innovative British bike brand Brompton and Danish label Wood Wood.

Howell has also been active on the collaboration front with names such as John Smedley, as well as a number of companies and individuals outside of fashion from the wider arts and design worlds.
