Spanish fashion brand Desigual, part of French group Eurazeo, has appointed Jordi Valls to lead the brand’s travel retail business globally.

Valls has extensive experience in the travel retail sector and has worked for companies such as Thomas Sabo, where he was travel retail director, and Custo Barcelona, where he was sales director.

Desigual entered travel retail in 2011 and has opened more than 180 locations across the world. Travel retail remains an important part of the label’s strategy, with dedicated ranges for travel retail locations launched frequently.

Jordi Valls is understood to replace Marco Gadola, who joined Desigual as global travel retail manager in 2011.

Valls will lead Desigual’s travel retail business at a time of declining sales. The company has been trying to revert the decline by reviewing its international store portfolio.

In the first nine months of the year, Desigual saw its revenue fall by 10.6% to 603.8 million euros (about $710 million or £531 million).
