Rain Couture, the Dutch label specialized in raincoats for men and women, announced in a press release that it will be opening a second flagship store.

The shop will be situated at Amsterdam’s Utrechtsestraat and plans to open its doors later this year. Utrechtsestraat is located in the city center, close to the Rembrandtplein and is home to many cafes, restaurants and retailers including Sissy Boy, Smaak Amsterdam, WolfWare, Cavallaro Napoli and We Are Labels.

Rain Couture opened its first shop three years ago at the Van Woustraat. The store later moved to its current location at the Huidenstraat. The latter is located at the city’s popular 9 Straatjes district, which has contributed to an increase in sales, according to the brand.

In addition to the upcoming store at the Utrechtsestraat, the raincoat specialist said that it aims to open additional stores both in the Netherlands as well as abroad in the near future.

Daphne Gerritse, owner and designer at Rain Couture, said: “Due to the international flow of consumers at the 9 Straatjes store, we have a lot of international customers, so our raincoats go worldwide. We receive a lot of positive feedback from our customers, so I know that there is market [for our product] abroad. Scandinavia, the UK and Germany are high on my list.”

Rain Couture was created by Daphne Gerritse in 2015. She conceived of the idea during her studies in Bergen, Norway where it was 'always raining'. Gerritse aims to produce fashionable raincoats suitable for the four seasons that are both feminine and fashionable. Rain Couture offers raincoats, bags and accessories for men and women. The brand operates via its Huidenstraat flagship store as well as its online store.
