Emilio Pucci taps designer Josephus Thimister
Emilio Pucci is looking for new design talent, after its Creative Director Massimo Giorgetti, appointed in 2015 with the mission to freshen up the label, left in early April. In the meantime, the Florentine label owned by the LVMH group has called on the services of Josephus Thimister.
"I was called in as a consultant. I will offer my advice and give a helping hand in general. My mandate will last six months," the Belgian designer has told FashionNetwork.com.
A graduate of the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts, the 54-year-old designer was Creative Director at Balenciaga from 1990 to 1997, after working briefly with Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Patou. He then founded his own label, and showed in Paris with his haute couture and ready-to-wear collections until 2004.
In 2005 he became the Creative Director of French footwear label Charles Jourdan. Afterwards, he divided his time between collaborations and teaching, having returned to the haute couture catwalks with one memorable collection in 2010.
He is currently working out of Pucci's Milan offices, where the fashion label has recently established its atelier, showroom and the marketing and sales departments. Pucci's substantial fabric atelier is instead located in Bologna. "The design department is working on the next collection, which will show in September," said Josephus Thimister.
