ISPO Munich 2015 edition strong and stable

Published
Feb 11, 2015

Ispo, which was held in Munich from February 5-8 welcomed 80,000 visitors, with stable attendance compared to the 2014 edition, but still high for the key European sporting goods and apparel trade show.

The range of visitors at the event remained very international, with 100 countries represented. China, Turkey, Spain, Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the United States all saw their numbers grow.

As for the exhibitors, there were 2,585 of them (20 more than last year) spread over 1.1 million square feet and 16 halls. According to organizers, the outdoor and health & fitness segments saw the greatest success. "Health & Fitness is a fast-growing market. Since last year, we have devoted an entire hall to the segment, since health and well-being are becoming increasingly important values. This trend creates new opportunities for the sports market," said Klaus Dittrich, President of Messe München, Ispo’s organizer.

According to a survey conducted at the show, 74% of exhibitors were very satisfied with this latest edition. At the stand of the Chinese sports goods supplier 361°, which is beginning to develop in Europe and which was participating for the first time in the Munich show, their satisfaction was obvious. "It is essential for us to be here. Professionals come to learn about the brands and their products. Especially since for the European market, Chinese sports brands still face a certain degree of reticence." German brand Schöffel indicated that there were also more contractors this year, including business leaders.

"It is a useful trade show that helps to improve morale. You have to the see the energy in the sector, new brands, new products, their development, trends...and to plan for 2015/2016. It's better than being stuck in front of the weather forecast on a daily basis," said Olivier Cantet, vice president EMEA at Oakley.

The next edition of Ispo Munich will be held from January 24-27, 2016.
