Kering to renovate Boucheron flagship in Paris

With festivities for its 160 anniversary in the works for 2018, Boucheron is embarking on another important project with the renovation of its historic Paris flagship store in Place Vendôme.

Luxury group Kering, owner of the high-end jeweller and watchmaker, announced in a press release it has applied for a construction permit to renovate the mansion, located at 26 Place Vendôme.

Boucheron founder Frédéric Boucheron was the first contemporary jeweller in 1893 to open a boutique in the prestigious Parisian area, which has since become a haven for fine jewellery.

The renovation project "aims to bring to light the building's architecture and the original volumes of when it first opened as Hotel de Nocé," said the group. Later, the building was aptly coined the ‘mansion of light’ by its illustrious neighbours, because of the way the sunlight fell on the building from morning to night.

Created in 1858, the jeweller perfumer joined the Kering fold (formerly PPR) in 2000 via Gucci Group, of which the French group owned 42% at the time. Boucheron today boasts more than 55 points of sale across the globe, consisting of standalone store and franchises. In 2017, the jeweller looks to strengthen its retail network in key markets such as Asia and Europe.
