Swiss shoemaker Bata names new CEO

Alexis Nasard has joined the footwear brand Bata as the new Group Chief Executive Officer. In this role he will lead the Lausanne-based company into a new phase of growth.

“I am very excited at the opportunity to work with the Bata team to further develop the company and its brands, particularly the Bata brand, through a fast-changing consumer and retail environment, building on the Company’s strong assets and global footprint” said Alexis Nasard.

Nasard joins Bata from Heineken, where he served for six years and held a several senior positions including President of the $8 billion Western European business, and Global Chief Marketing Officer.

He was also 17 years at Procter & Gamble, where his roles included the definition of strategies for new product categories and selling through various retail channels both in developed and emerging markets.

Christopher Kirk, Bata Chairman, said: ”I am delighted to welcome Alexis who, with his impressive global background and strategic experience, will help us to identify global opportunities to accelerate Bata’s growth.”

Founded in 1894, Bata is one of the world’s leading shoe manufacturers and retailers. It has over 5,000 international retail stores and a presence in over 70 countries.
