(Relaxnews) - To celebrate the 30th year of its fashion section, and its abundance of works created by couturiers who have left a mark on the history of fashion, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Museum of Decorative Arts) in Paris is presenting the exhibition "Fashion Forward, Three Centuries of Fashion (1715-2015)" from April 7 to August 14, 2016. It will showcase the key moments in the history of fashion and style and highlight the particularities of the museum's collection.

More than just an overview of the history of fashion, this exhibition will shine a light on fashion and history, fashion and art de vivre, fashion and costumes. Through this new chronological display spanning three centuries, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs will highlight the changes in fashion, style, as well as the human body and appearance, demonstrating the strengths and particularities of each era.

For the first time, exceptional pieces retracing the history of style will be set in "a human, artistic and social context". In addition to the clothing, visitors will also be able to discover other aspects of these three centuries, including the skills required to make the garments.

The artistic direction of this exhibition has been entrusted to the dancer and choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and the scenographer Jérôme Kaplan.

Together they will showcase no less than 300 pieces for women, men, and children, from the 18th century to the present day, with works created by the most renowned couturiers, including Elsa Schiaparelli, Paul Poiret, Gabrielle Chanel, Jeanne Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Jacques Doucet, and Madeleine Vionnet.

"Fashion Forward, Three Centuries of Fashion (1715-2015)" runs from April 7 to August 14, 2016 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.
