The technology accelerator run by the Fashion for Good initiative and tech incubator/investment fund Plug and Play announced the induction of a third cohort of start-ups into the programme. They will showcase their technology innovations on 14th June at Plug and Play's Amsterdam headquarters, after twelve weeks of meetings with mentors from the programme's international corporate partners, such as Kering, Adidas, Zalando, Galeries Lafayette and C&A.

New faces for the fashion industry technology accelerator - Fashion for Good-Plug and Play

Among the hundreds of applications submitted, the programme picked, for materials, the kelp-based fibres by Algiknit, the biodegradable sequins by Bioglitz, the kapok fibres by Flocus, the apple-based leather by Frumat, the mango-based bio-polyester by Mango Materials, and the orange-cellulose-based fibres by Orange Fibers. Also, the leather-equivalent, bio-produced material by Provenance Biofabrics and the wood-based bio-packaging by Paptic.

Among the other projects selected, the system for micro-plastics capture PlanetCare, the cavitation-based alternative to chemical binders Nano Textile, the circular design software Circular.Fashion, the software-as-a-service website Reverse Resources, for measuring manufacturing waste, and the production tool for personalised knitwear by Scalable Garment Technologies. In addition, the textile leasing marketplace Style Lend and the ethical fashion app Good on You.

The programme was set up last year as a collaboration between the Fashion for Good initiative, co-founded by C&A, and Plug and Play. The technology accelerator has attracted major corporate partners from the fashion industry as well as organisations such as the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, the Sustainable Trade Initiative, and the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
