The Conference will consist of two round table discussions about what makes a fashion city and future fashion in New York City; a film screening of The True Cost (2015), directed by Andrew Morgan who will follow the screening with a Q&A; and it will conclude with a conversation with designer, Reem Acra, and Valerie Steele, the director of the Museum of FIT.

Other topics that will be addressed at the conference will pertain to social media and the fashion industry, how labor, craft and design will survive in the era of Instagram, new technologies, and humanitarian sensibilities and politics.

The Conference is free and open to the public, and registration can be done on the CUNY website. The morning session will take place on the FIT campus, and the afternoon session will take place at the Graduate Center, CUNY, in the Proshansky Auditorium. Registration for both sessions is open now.
