The announcement follows the retailer's store remodel, including the installment of LED lights, an expanded shoe department and a larger area devoted to sportswear, made in 2018.

Founded in 1949 by former Warner Brothers publicist Richard Carroll, the retailer became famous for dressing many golden age Hollywood stars, including Frank Sinatra, Cary Grant, Clark Gable and Steve McQueen.

According to a press release, the family-owned retailer has more recently outfitted television shows like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Ray Donovan, as well as providing clothing to a variety of further television and films.

The decision to close was made under the supervision of the company's president and Richard Carroll's son, John Carroll. As part of the closure, Carroll & Co. also plans to lease its building on Canon Drive.

Carroll plans to continue in the custom and made-to-measure clothing industry after the store's closing, the press release said.
