‘Camp Style' was the fashion term that had the US Googling the most in 2019.

The search engine has revealed its top 10 ‘Fashion Style' US searches of the last 12 months as part of its 'Year in Search 2019' report, with ‘camp' topping the bill.

In May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City's annual MET Gala saw most of the biggest celebrities in the world walking the red carpet to showcase their interpretation of the dress code "Camp: Notes on Fashion," which could go some way to explaining the number of Google hits for the term.

In second place was ‘Egirl Style,' which refers to the ironic aesthetic that has become popular online, followed by searches for the trend's male counterpart: ‘Eboy Style.' The Victorian-esque, retro-futuristic ‘Steampunk Style' came in at number four, while the fifth-most searched-for term was ‘Harajuku Style,' referring to the eclectic Japanese aesthetic born in the Harajuku neighborhood of Tokyo.

Preppy Style, Yankii Style, Vintage Style, VSCO Girl Style and Emo Style rounded out the top 10, proving that, in 2019, style was anything but boring.
