Iconix Brand Group appoints Robert Galvin as CEO

Effective from October 15, Iconix Brand Group Inc. appointed Robert Galvin chief executive officer, president, and a member of the board of directors of the company. Peter Cuneo will transition to executive chairman.

"Our Board is extremely pleased that Bob has joined Iconix,” said Peter Cuneo, the interim CEO and chairman of the board of Iconix in a press release.

“We believe that his past leadership experiences in our industry bode well for Iconix. He will hit the ground running. Bob has also been very successful when faced with particularly fluid situations. His unique skills in this regard make him a good match to the current challenges facing Iconix. He is an adept problem solver. I look forward to working with Bob in the future."

"I am pleased to assume leadership of Iconix Brand Group,” said Galvin in a press release. “Iconix maintains a prestigious portfolio of brands and known stature in the industry. I will be working closely with all of our partners and our leadership team to broaden our presence and position our brands to maximize their potential."

Galvin, who has 30 years of experience working with global brands, has stepped into his latest role as CEO, president, and member of the board of Iconix.

Galvin was most recently at Cherokee Inc. where he served as chaiman and has also worked for Sports Brands International Ltd., Elie Tahari Ltd., and Camuto Group. 

In these roles, Galvin gained extensive experience in managing global brand licensing activities and refinancing material indebtedness and cost restructures.

Galvin has also worked at Nine West Group Inc. and Bebe Stores and is currently an independent director of Big 5 Sporting Goods Corp and Trans World Entertainment as well as an independent director of Lands' End, which he joined in 2014.

Iconix Brand owns, licenses, and markets a number of labels including Zoo York, Joe Boxer, Rocawear, Buffalo, Pony, Ed Hardy, Material Girl, Cannon, and Royal Velvet among others.

The business licenses its brands to a network of retailers and manufacturers and comprises business development, merchandising, advertising, and public relations.
