Interfilière Paris back with dynamic in-person edition

Professionals from the lingerie and swimwear sectors have met again for Parisian trade show Interfilière, held in a more understated format than usual in Hall 5.1 of the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre, exposed concrete predominant in the rather unadorned setting. From knitwear producers to manufacturers of woven textiles, printed fabrics, decorations, lace, embroidery, buttons, braids, yarns, threads, staples, shells and ribbons, from textile designers and design offices to machinery and industrial solution providers, all the main players in the market's various sectors attended the long-awaited in-person event.

Interfilière showcased plenty of new products and ideas, catering to buyers coming from “France, [the rest of] Europe and even some from the USA,” said the organisers, adding that “it was a quality event that generated a great deal of business, to the satisfaction of the exhibitors present.”

Friday September 3 was generally regarded as a highly positive day by most exhibitors. “It was an exceptional day,” according to knitwear specialist Taubert. “Everyone was happy to meet again, and we got in touch again with many customers, mostly from France but also from abroad. Tencel-based fabrics were a great success,” added Taubert. Lingerie and athleisure fabrics producer Iluna was of the same opinion: “Friday was a positive day. The weekend was quieter, though we still met many important buyers. Several French customers, and also European ones, spent time talking to us and looking at our novelties. Our Lurex range was quite successful.”

With its exhibitors and the Trend Forum led by Jos Berry, Interfilière confirmed itself as a cornerstone of sustainable innovation, with an extensive range of eco-responsible products (from eco-certified materials to recycled fabrics, sustainable finishings, traceability and water-saving solutions) that meet the new expectations of buyers. For example, Roja integrated Modal and organic cotton in its lace collections; Rueff Textile, specialised in printed homewear and loungewear fabrics that are Oeko-Tex and GOTS-certified, presented the new generation of digital printing machines it will launch at ITMA in 2023; Sanko introduced its new Sanko Future collection, Cradle2Cradle-certified, 100% circular, biodegradable and compostable. “The producers in our industry are constantly adapting, developing innovations and working for sustainable growth,” said Cécile Vivier-Guérin, communication and marketing director for the Riviera and Interfilière Paris trade shows.

Trends-wise, “[the show’s] latest edition displayed a new direction in lingerie, swimwear and sportswear, naturally oriented towards consumers who have different expectations,” said Jos Berry, creative director of Interfilière’s Trends Forum, the section at the heart of the show. “Women demand comfort in all growth markets. The boundaries between traditional lingerie and sports underwear have vanished, and there is a search for simple, comfortable solutions and a sustainable approach,” she added.

For those who missed it, the show will continue online until September 17 with Interfilière Connect, a digest of the physical event’s three days, featuring the trend conferences, virtual Trends Forum and interviews with exhibitors.
