Lipsy, the young womenswear brand owned by Next, has become the latest UK fashion retailer to launch into the bridal sector with the debut of a series of wedding and bridesmaid dresses under its own brand and as part of its Lipsy & Co multi-brand offer. Brands available include Lace & Beads, Hope & Ivy, Bardot, Pretty Little Thing, Love Triangle and TFNC.

Lisy will offer bridal dresses for the first time

The news comes hot on the heels of Topshop announcing that it, too, will move into the bridal sector this spring with an increasing selection of low-to-mid-priced high street names in Britain seeing bridal as a key growth area.

The new Lipsy offer, in sizes four to 18, will be available mainly online at lipsy.com, also will include accessories. It will be on sale from March.

A company spokeswoman told Fashion Network that this first move into bridal for the retailer will be kept on-trend with the bridesmaid dresses seeing extra colourways dropped in regularly. The retailer’s brands will also launch additional styles throughout the season.

“We consider Lipsy to be a specialist in occasionwear and party dressing, and have always catered to wedding guests through our main and VIP ranges,” she added. “We felt that this was the final piece of the puzzle to offer our customer bridesmaids and bridal dresses.”

The Lipsy own brand bridesmaid offer includes the Bella, with structured bust detail, allowing for “co-ordinated mismatching” in a choice of three colours; the Jasmine with guipure lace and embellished crystal trims in a variety of lengths; the Lily with an on-trend cold shoulder cut and detachable corsage with ruffle bust detail; the keyhole detail Siena with a halter neckline and 3D embellishment; and the Rose, in navy with a fully structured bust and detachable satin belt tie and corsage.

Lipsy's bridal launch also incudes a full line-up of bridesmaid's dresses

The bridesmaid offer is priced at £70 to £95 and will be available both online and in selected stores.
The wedding dresses feature “whimsical maxis”, long white gowns, lace ivory midi dresses, boho-influenced floor-length lace pieces, and a 3D embroidered dress with a sweetheart neckline. There is also an understated guipure lace midi shift with detachable chiffon maxi skirt that is designed to be adapted into a regular party dress later.

They feature figure contouring, corseting, pleat detailing, fishtails and sheer hems as well as placed lace and crystal embellishment. Prices start at £180, rising to £250, and they will be available online only.
