With 1,700 applicants from 100 different countries, the LVMH Prize has reached a new record for participation this season. The jury chose 20 semi-finalists, who will face the critical eye of 63 jury members, as well as the 2019 competition ambassador, Chiara Ferragni, at a showroom on March 1 and 2, 2019 at LVMH jury headquarters (located at 22 Avenue Montaigne, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris).

Eight brands will be selected for the finale to be held next June at the Louis Vuitton Foundation.

Participating brands will benefit from valuable exposure as a selection of their pieces will be sold on 24 Sèvres, the site of multi-brand retailer Bon Marché Rive Gauche, property of LVMH. The winner will have the chance to sell their entire collection alongside brands like Chloe, Stella McCartney and Isabel Marant. The prize also gives international visibility to the group's online sales platform.

The 20 designers selected for the semi-finals represent fifteen different nationalities, from South Africa to the United States via Bulgaria, Nigeria and France. Five of them produce unisex collections, seven men's collections and the remaining eight womenswear. The brands are 3.Paradis, Anrealage, Bethany Williams, Bode, Boramy Viguier, Duran Lantink, Eftychia, Germanier, Hed Mayner, Hu, Kanghyuk, Kiko Kostadinov, Kenneth Ize, Lecavalier, Paria / Farzaneh, Phipps, Richard Malone, Stefan Cooke, Susan Fang and Thebe Magugu.

The winner of the 2019 edition of the LVMH Prize, founded under the leadership of Delphine Arnault in 2014, will receive funding of 300,000 euros and will be entitled to one year of mentoring with LVMH teams.

In addition to this award, a prize will be awarded to three recent graduates of fashion schools. They will benefit from a grant of 10,000 euros and will be able to join the teams of one of the LVMH houses for one year. Applications are open until May 15, 2019.

Last year, the LVMH prize was awarded to the Japanese designer Masayuki Ino for his brand Doublet.
