The German brand has been sponsoring fashion weeks for 20 years, from Sydney and Melbourne to New York, Berlin, Milan, Beijing, Miami, Madrid, Moscow, Stockholm, Mexico City, Tokyo and Istanbul. Since 2008, it is also a partner of the French Fashion Federation through its vehicle fleet, VIP evenings and events. Today Mercedes is busy in 41 fashion events in 27 different countries, and has launched a new competition dedicated to young designers.

Featuring Alexis Mabille as jury chairman, the new 'Mercedes-Benz Stars' competition has asked 30 designers selected by Mabille to create 3 looks "sublimating automotive luxury as embodied by Mercedes-Benz."

At the end of the first stage, the jury will deliberate on 15th June to select 10 designers among the 30, who will be asked to produce one of their looks.

The last stage will take place on 4th October, at the next session of the Paris womenswear fashion week (for Spring-Summer 2017), where all the collections will be unveiled in a venue which is still being kept secret.

At the evening event, the jury will announce the name of the winner of the 'Mercedes-Benz Stars Prize 2016', endowed with a €15,000 cash prize, while the winner will also enjoy long-term support by Mercedes-Benz.
