The former Made in Chelsea star’s eponymous label was the biggest-selling brand on Asos after the site’s own label in 2016, however it has now gone into voluntary liquidation, according to documents seen by the Evening Standard.

The collapse of the business, which launched on Asos four years ago, will result in a shortfall to creditors of £548,000. Mackintosh herself has been estimated to lose around £178,000 from the liquidation.

"Despite our efforts and being a top seller with a number of stockists, the financial climate in the fashion industry has proved immensely challenging and the business is no longer sustainable,” she told the newspaper.

The company, officially called Cammac, had over 30 stockists around the world, and counted celebrity stars including Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Olivia Palermo and Rita Ora among its fans.

Mackintosh was also likely to enjoy a boost from her friendship with Meghan Markle, whose fashion influence has been dubbed ‘the Meghan effect’ and is forecasted to surpass the ‘Kate effect’. Several Canadian brands' websites have already crashed as a result of demand due to Markle,  who is due to marry Prince Harry in May, being photographed wearing their designs.
