Patou previews first looks ahead of September show

Like the fine-tuned mechanics of a symphony, Patou has released a small glimpse of its upcoming ready-to-wear collection ahead of the brand's relaunch on the runway in Paris this September. After announcing its new identity and image, the historic brand that was bought by the luxury giant LVMH in 2018 has revealed its first looks designed by Guillaume Henry.

The new Patou woman - ph Marc Hibbert

The brand aims to maintain its light and playful spirit. The former creative director of Nina Ricci and Carven dressed his friends and colleagues in Patou, including the brand’s pattern cutter Alexia Braem; product manager Raquel Gaeta; young women’s stylist Leïna de La Valette; seamstress Pauline Creste; and several models including Anna de Rijk, Léa Letard, and Binta Diop.

Henry posed his collective in front of the lens of photographer Marc Hibbert. The mixed cast took part in a “spontaneous” shooting full of candid smiles to showcase the chic and easy clothing, exuding a feminine energy with the inevitable Parisian touch.

A trouser-suit worn with platform shoes and a jacket with big, round buttons; a knitted jacquard sweater and sailor-striped skirt. The stylised initials of Jean Patou are found embroidered on the sleeves of a comfortable pea coat and a little denim jacket is styled with a taffeta dress.

“A gallery of faces, attitudes, and smiles,” is how the brand describes its archetypal woman on its website. In the form of a poem: “Girls in the team and collaborators, inspirers, or ambassadors, the Patou women are all around us. Patou, it’s you!”
