Storefront announces Dutch expansion

Published
Sep 8, 2017

Storefront is planning a major expansion for its Dutch branch. The San Francisco-based online start-up, which acts as a mediator between landlords and retailers or brands for pop-up spaces, will soon start renting spaces in Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Managing Director Benelux, Jort Duijnker announced the news in an interview with RTL Z.

Storefront is already available in Amsterdam, where the company has operated since April. Companies such as Heineken, Chanel and Google are already using the platform. But Storefront is also encouraging smaller companies and start-ups to use the service.

Via the platform, one can choose a location somewhere in the city and then opt for a space to rent, from one day up to a few months. Prices start at a few hundred euros and go up to a few thousand, depending on the size and available amenities. For a 110 m2 gallery space in Amsterdam’s arts district, prices start at 1500 euros per day, while a 40 m2 boutique setting in the city centre can be rented from 50 euros per day.

In addition to Amsterdam and the upcoming Dutch locations, Storefront is currently present in a number of cities around the globe, such as London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Milan.

Erik Eliason and Tristian Pollock founded Storefront in 2012. The company merged last year with the French company, Popup Immo. With this move, the start-up landed in Europe. To date, the Dutch branch counts 120 rental listings and has five employees. In total, the platform has over 10,000 listings, which represent more than 30 million square feet of retail space.
