UK-based Whitmarsh-Knight is new Hyosung Textile marketing chief

South Korea’s Hyosung Textile has named UK-based Simon Whitmarsh-Knight as its new Global Marketing Director. He’ll lead the international marketing team “to further Hyosung’s position as a major textile solution provider”.

Hyosung is a fibre manufacturer and its Creora brand is the world’s largest for elastane, while it also makes Mipan nylon and speciality polyester.

Whitmarsh-Knight will oversee marketing for these products having previously been the firm’s Managing Director for HD Wool Active Insulation, as well as its its EMEA Marketing Director, and having worked for Invista.

The company said he has “directed high-level partnerships across the textile value chain – from mills to packagers, garment makers, fibre ingredient brands, distributors, licensees, and major consumer brands”.

The group’s Chief Marketing Officer  Sora Yoo added: “Simon brings extensive sales, marketing, and team-building experience growing business across the specialty fibre, technical textile and performance apparel industries – not to mention a deep understanding of Hyosung.”

He’ll continue to be based in the UK but will “travel extensively to support the team and connect with leading international, brands, retailers, and value chain partners”.
