Westfield is putting a big push behind Chinese New Year in its two London malls next month, not just to attract high-spending Chinese shoppers but also to target a wider group of family-focused shoppers.

Westfield will push the boat out at its London malls to mark Chinese New Year during half-term

During the half-term holiday, Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City will be offering free kid’s workshops, from traditional red envelope decorating to tea-making with activities themed around ‘finding your Fu’, welcoming all good things in life, running from February 15 to 18.

It will be the Chinese Year of the Dog and the programme of children’s activities has been designed to help families “experience the ancient holiday in an authentic, modern way.”

The five supporting elements will be Good Food, Good Looks, Good Family Times, Good Living and Good Health. Westfield will host free hourly kid’s workshops for 30 minutes enabling a hands-on approach to a range of Chinese traditions.

The children’s sessions range from the customary art of red envelope decorating, fortune cookie decorating, tea-making workshops to money tree seed planting and face painting. These will be taking place at Westfield London on the first floor outside Lululemon and at Westfield Stratford City on the first floor outside John Lewis. Participants won’t need to sign up in advance and can join in as long as there’s space available.
