Zara's strategy to develop premium collaborations with renowned names in hopes of moving upmarket is extending into categories that until now were little explored by the Spanish brand. In the same vein as the alliance established years ago with British perfumer Jo Malone to upgrade its range of fragrances, Zara is now turning its attention to costume jewelry in collaboration with French designer Elie Top. The collection is set to launch on September 26.

The collection will be available from September 26 - Zara

Stunning sunflowers with gold and silver petals, inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's paintings, and delicate honeybees are the stars of a capsule collection inspired by nature and life in the beehive. Elegant rings and brooches, chunky necklaces, decorative body chains, dangling earrings and funky bracelets are among the pieces that, as of this week, are already on sale in select physical stores and on Zara's online store.

The collection's designs all reflect Top's unique style. The French designer studied at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne and also worked alongside Yves Saint Laurent. It was then that he met Alber Elbaz, who entrusted him with designing his brand's first pieces. Elbaz continued collaborating with Top for over 10 years, when he commissioned him to create Haute Couture jewelry for Lanvin. In 2015, Top launched his own eponymous brand, distinguished by its bold shapes, baroque influences and futuristic touches.

"Excited by the possibility of designing and unleashing an exceptional costume jewelry collection for Zara, I started daydreaming: it was like a sun-drenched reverie that inspired this capsule, a song of the earth," explained the designer regarding his collaboration with the Spanish retail giant.

Founded in 1975, Zara is currently present in a total of 200 markets worldwide. In the first half of the year, the brand recorded sales of 10.9 billion euros, up 29% compared to the 8.48 million euros accumulated in the same period a year earlier. As of today, the brand operates 1946 stores out of the 6370 stores owned by the group founded by Amancio Ortega.
