AALTO Show - Women's Collection Autumn/Winter 2018/19 in Paris (with interview)

Designer: Tuomas MerikoskiInspiration : ‘Love record’, the logo of a Finnish record label is used as the basis of the décor a in Paris school gym, but above all it’s used as a leitmotiv, a way to speak about love in all of its forms. Collection: distorted, twisted and rounded. Basics take on a new dimension, with rounded sleeves and lined materials. Jumpers shaped with a winged effect. Fluid dresses are made from recycled jersey, others have abstract motifs, faux fur or exclusive ‘Memphis’ prints. To note: the iconic logo used for embroidered hearts on zips and badges. Interview with Tuomas Merikoski: Love Records is a reference, it’s an original logo, from a Finnish record label, really well known in the seventies but which started in the sixties and there are other references but which are a mix of true reality with uncontrollable fantasy. The sculptural shapes in the classic shapes but then afterwards, there are the volumes which are abnormal, a bit different, a bit strange, also sometimes a bit twisted, twisting realities. We made twisted legs, sleeves, the sleeves are very visual, in knitwear or also made from jersey as it gives a more blurry aspect to the dresses which are worn but crazier because it’s a more droopy material.
